Alhamdulillah, on Sunday, 28 June 2026, the AMMAC Nurses & Allied Health team took part in the Humanity First Unity Summit 2026, held at the Giovanni Caboto Club in Windsor, Ontario. Organised by Humanity First Canada under the theme “Many Voices, One Mission,” the inaugural summit brought together approximately 45 organisations, including charities, healthcare providers, emergency services, educational institutions and community groups, all working towards a shared goal of serving humanity and strengthening local communities.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Mayor Drew Dilkens of Windsor, Deputy Mayor Michael Akpata of LaSalle, Members of Provincial Parliament, and representatives from Windsor Police Service, Windsor Fire & Rescue Services, and a range of healthcare and community organisations.
Throughout the day, attendees visited educational exhibits, met representatives from local organisations and learned about the services available across Windsor-Essex. Presentations covered a range of public health and safety topics, including Basic Life Support (BLS), disaster relief preparedness, fire safety, oral health, mental resilience and emergency response. Dr. Noman Hasan, FRCSC, General Surgeon and President of AMMAC, was among the featured speakers, addressing colon cancer prevention with a focus on regular screening, early detection and public awareness in reducing the burden of colorectal cancer. Participants also took part in hands-on CPR and AED demonstrations, gaining practical lifesaving skills.
As part of the summit, the AMMAC Nurses & Allied Health team operated the Basic Medical Assessment Booth, where registered nurses provided free blood pressure screening, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment and capillary blood glucose (CBG) testing. Visitors discussed their results with healthcare professionals, asked questions about disease prevention and learned practical steps for improving their health. The booth drew steady interest throughout the day, offering a hands-on opportunity to promote preventive healthcare.
Dr. Nauman Iftikhar, organiser of the Humanity First Unity Summit, said the event was conceived to bring organisations together so that communities could become more aware of the resources available to them, and that fostering communication and partnership would help strengthen local ties and address community needs.
