International Waqfe Nau Refresher Course Opens with Call for Spiritual Excellence and Professional Service

The International Waqfe Nau Refresher Course 2026 commenced its first day with an emphasis on spiritual devotion, professional development, and administrative accountability within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The conference, which convenes secretaries and members of the Waqfe Nau scheme from around the world, reinforced that participation in the program represents a lifelong pledge of service rather than a ceremonial title. The scheme was established in 1987 by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh) to raise a generation dedicated to serving the global needs of the Community in fields including medicine, education, architecture, and media.

Speakers outlined specific career paths where the Community requires expertise, particularly in pediatrics, gynecology, and general surgery for hospitals in Africa and Pakistan. Architecture was also highlighted as essential, with the Community constructing between 100 and 200 mosques annually worldwide. Media professionals were described as critical to countering misinformation and advancing the narrative of Islam Ahmadiyyat on digital platforms.

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) was quoted by a panellist as stating that “merely having the title of Waqfe Nau is meaningless and confers no special status on its own” and that members must “fear Allah more than others” for the pledge to hold any benefit.

National secretaries were reminded that “a heavy burden of responsibility has been placed upon you wherein it is your duty to cater for the moral, spiritual and educational training of those children who have been born into this scheme.”

The proceedings also featured a documentary on a recent delegation of 80 American Waqfe Nau youth who visited Qadian, the birthplace of the Promised Messiah (as), with participants reporting a renewed commitment to their pledge following the journey.
