Alhamdulillah, Lajna Ima’illah Canada hosted the second annual Artisan Market on August 15, featuring 35 vendors and over 300 esteemed guests throughout the day.
The event provided a unique and meaningful platform for Lajna members to showcase their creativity, talents, skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.
“This is our community. We need to help each other, especially Lajna members, to build their own businesses and encourage them to be empowered,” says Rubina Ameen, who runs Kreative Kids Workshop, dedicated to making Islamic learning materials for young kids. Ameen made the trip from Montreal to Vaughan because of the event’s success last year. She says she gained more exposure for her work and spoke to Muslim mothers about what they want to see from her business. “It’s great to have this market. It’s in its second year and hopefully, InshAllah, it will get bigger and bigger.”
This year, the Artisan Market also introduced skill-building workshops, designed to provide members with the space to learn new skills in a welcoming and interactive setting. Workshops included learning how to 3D print, assemble bouquets from scratch, decorate cupcakes and more.
“These workshops added an educational and hands-on dimension to the event, allowing participants not only to appreciate the talents of others but also to develop practical skills of their own,” says Lubna Yousaf Sahiba, National Secretary, Sanat Wa Dastakari.

Alongside different business vendors and workshops, the Market also featured four Lajna food stalls, offering a variety of delicious items for visitors to eat and take home.
The strong participation from both exhibitors and attendees demonstrated the value of providing Lajna members with platforms where their talents can be recognized, shared, and developed.
