Attendance: 137 Jama’at members

Executive Summary

The AMMAC Mental Health Committee successfully launched its monthly educational initiative with a high-engagement session focused on the foundations of mental wellness. The event bridged clinical psychological concepts with Islamic spiritual teachings, catering to a diverse demographic within the community.

Program Highlights

  • The session began with the recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 287, reminding us that Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.
  • Respected Naib Amir Sahib, Farhan Khokhar Sahib, graced the event with his presence and shared reflective remarks on the verse, highlighting the connection between spiritual resilience and well-being. He then led the silent prayer to formally commence the program.
  • Keynote presentation: Dr. Noor Afroz presented an informative introduction to mental health and mental wellness. The talk explored the intersection of psychology and spirituality, defining mental well-being not only as the absence of illness but as the presence of balance, emotional regulation, purpose, and spiritual grounding. A summary of the presentation was provided in Urdu to ensure accessibility for all participants.

Key Insights & Community Interest

The Q&A segment served as a valuable “pulse check” for the Jama`at’s needs. A significant portion of the dialogue focused on:

  1. Childhood Stress: Impact of early environments on long-term health.
  2. Early Emotional Development: Proactive strategies for nurturing resilience in youth.
  3. Spirituality & Psychology: Practical ways to integrate spiritual grounding into daily mental health maintenance.

Strategic Outlook: Next Session

Given the high volume of questions regarding early-life influences, the committee has strategically themed the next session to address these specific concerns.

Note: The Mental Health Committee remains committed to providing a safe, spiritually grounded space for education and support.
