Hamilton Mountain Jama’at Connects with Over 400 Children at the Police in the Park event

by May 28, 2026

By the grace of Allah Almighty, the Tabligh Department of Hamilton Mountain Jamā‘at took part in the Police in the Park event on 14 May 2026, held at Bayfront Park, 200 Harbour Front Drive, Hamilton, Ontario. The day proved a wonderful success and offered a valuable opportunity for meaningful engagement with the wider community, with members reaching and interacting with more than 420 children through a range of educational and interactive activities.

Activities on offer included:

  • Children’s names written in beautiful Arabic calligraphy
  • An opportunity to try on hijabs, with the support of Lajna volunteers
  • Henna designs for girls, applied through the efforts of Lajna volunteers
  • Custom-made Islamic bookmarks distributed to participants
  • Chocolates offered to all who visited
  • Gift bags presented to accompanying teachers

The response from children and teachers alike was overwhelmingly warm. The children were delighted to see their names being written in Arabic script. Many mentioned that it was an experience they found both memorable and meaningful. It was heartening, too, to see many female students and teachers wearing hijabs throughout the day, reflecting a spirit of genuine appreciation and respect.

Teachers came by throughout the day to thank the volunteers, and a number of them stayed to ask about the Jama’at and the work behind what they had seen. Through this engagement, the event helped build positive relationships and present a peaceful and welcoming image of Islam.
