The Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, proclaimed Jalsa Salana to be a Divine Sign raised against the opponents. Today, the one-hundred-and-thirty-six-year history of Jalsa Salana stands as a radiant testimony that this heavenly sign has long transcended the boundaries of a single land. It now calls sincere-hearted souls from hundreds of nations toward truth, reflection, and spiritual awakening.
Today across continents, a wondrous spirit of brotherhood, compassion, and human unity shines forth, unhindered by distance, nationality, language, colour, or race.
When One Door Closed, God Opened a Hundred More
When opponents of Ahmadiyyat attempted to silence this Divine Sign in one country, God Almighty opened the doors of its promised blessings in countless others. He established this heavenly institution upon firm foundations and continues to grant it ever-increasing progress.
In some nations, He manifested this sign in multiple cities, dazzling the eyes of its adversaries. In Canada, Jalsa Salana is held annually in three regions, making Canada among those blessed places where one may truly say: “The sun of this Divine Sign never sets in Canada.”
At times it rises in the East, at times its brilliance reaches its zenith in the centre, and then it shines again in the West, only to begin its sacred cycle anew.
From Seventy-Five Souls to Nations Without Number
The Jalsa that began in 1891 with merely seventy-five participants now reaches hundreds of thousands in some countries. Even the smallest nations now exceed that original number. Only a few weeks ago, God granted me the honour of attending the first Jalsa in Peru, where nearly two hundred and fifty blessed souls gathered. Alhamdulillah.
The Work of a Year Begins Before the Last Words End
Preparations for the next Jalsa begin even before the concluding address of the current one. Every item is carefully preserved for future use. Letters are written to our beloved Imam, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V(aba), seeking his prayers. Members are urged to offer Sadaqa, almsgiving, and voluntary prayers.
New teams are proposed, approved, and trained. The suitability of the Jalsa Gah is reviewed; if change is needed, new sites are explored and selected. Purchases are planned with care. Then the Red Book meetings begin, seeking God’s help to avoid repeating past shortcomings. Next arises the question: what spiritual dishes shall be served at the next Jalsa? After deep reflection, proposals are sent to the Markaz. Once approved, speakers are informed, and continuous follow-up begins.
Yet all these are merely human efforts. The true life and soul of Jalsa Salana are the Divine promises, God’s succour, and at every step the guidance of His beloved Khalifa.
Canada is a land where Jalsa lives all year
Like many nations, Canada remains engaged with Jalsa Salana throughout the year. But because Canada hosts three Jalsas, all connected to one national centre, the entire country moves in a constant rhythm, either holding Jalsas or preparing for them.
In Toronto, this Divine Sign has risen forty-nine times; in the West, forty-two times. This year, in Montreal, the East of Canada, the world will witness this heavenly sign for the ninth time.
“They Will Come to You from Every Distant Path”
Ahmadi brothers and sisters from across Canada, especially French-speaking members, will Insha’Allah travel to attend, bringing along non-Ahmadi friends. As in previous years, guests from the United States, France, and other nations are expected. Once again, we hope to witness the fulfilment of the Divine promise:
“The help will come to you by every distant track. People will come to you so that the track will become deep due to excessive travel.”

“Come, O people! Tis here you’ll find the light of God.”

A Gathering of Nations, A Single Heartbeat
Some will bring their friends to show that Islam Ahmadiyyat is not the faith of one nation, one people, or one tongue. At this Jalsa, radiant faces from Haiti, Jamaica, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Benin, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and many more will be seen, yet their hearts will beat with one beautiful identity: Islam Ahmadiyyat.
Another unique honour of Jalsa Salana is that its participants are regarded as guests of the Promised Messiah (as). Everywhere in the world, they are served the same simple yet beloved dishes, aloo gosht, dal, roti, or rice, which people of every nation eat with affection and often like to take home as blessed souvenirs.
Preparing the Next Generation
At this Jalsa, parents will lovingly tell their French-immersion children: “Look, these are children who speak French. Tomorrow, you must convey the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat to them and to their people. Sit with them, play with them, and show them the noble character of an Ahmadi child.”
Islam Ahmadiyyat is not bound to a single language. Ahmadis will tell their friends: “Come and see, those who speak French are as devoted to this faith as those among whom the Promised Messiah (as) was born.”
This itself is a sign of the truth of Ahmadiyyat.
Across the world, one finds lovers of this faith speaking Arabic, Spanish, German, Norwegian, Italian, Greek, Japanese, Indonesian, Bengali, and countless other tongues, yet all carry within their hearts the same Divinely-kindled flame of faith.
When the outward proceedings of this Jalsa draw to a close, children, youth, men, and women will return home with their hearts filled to the brim with spiritual blessings.
A Call to Prayer and Participation
These lines are written so that those blessed to attend may feel renewed motivation: to travel with prayers for the success of this Jalsa, and to return home safely and joyfully.
Those unable to attend should support the Jalsa with their prayers, remembering every participant and every worker who will labour day and night in its service.
May God Almighty be the Helper and Protector of all, and may every soul be blessed with a share of the heartfelt prayers offered by the Promised Messiah (as).
O Allah, kindle within our hearts, through these blessed gatherings, a special light of loyalty, sincerity, and love. Ameen.
