The International Human Rights Desk has released its 2026 report on the persecution of Ahmadi Muslims, documenting violations during 2025, following its public launch in Dublin and Galway on 9 and 10 February 2026.
The report documents a year of sustained persecution of Ahmadi Muslims, primarily in Pakistan and Bangladesh. In 2025, restrictions on Ahmadi religious life continued to be enforced through law, policing practices, and unchecked public incitement.
Among the most serious incidents recorded was the armed attack on Bait-ul-Mahdi in Rabwah, where an assailant opened fire on Ahmadi volunteers shortly before Friday prayers, injuring eight worshippers. The attack highlighted the absence of effective state protection even in the administrative headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
During the year, three Ahmadis were killed for their faith, and another died in police custody. Members of the community were arrested for routine acts of worship, mosques were demolished or sealed, Friday prayers were obstructed or treated as a criminal offence during Ramadan, and restrictions were extended into the Eid festivals.
Violations extended into death. The report documents the destruction of 381 Ahmadi graves in 2025, alongside repeated interference in funerals and burial rites.
Legal and judicial developments further narrowed the space for Ahmadi religious life. In December, an Ahmadi educator was sentenced to life imprisonment under blasphemy provisions, and Parliament formally excluded Ahmadis from the mandate of the National Commission for Minorities. While the community would not in any event accept representation on a body premised on its designation as a non-Muslim minority, the exclusion reaffirmed the removal of Ahmadis even from the limited protections extended to other religious communities.
The report also records at least 27 hate rallies targeting Ahmadis in Pakistan, alongside organised mobilisation in Bangladesh demanding the declaration of Ahmadis as non-Muslim and the introduction of Pakistan-style legal restrictions.
