Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost to reserve a lot and a burial?

The price of $8,000 includes the cost of the lot, internment,  headstone, and agency charges for the cemetery.  The price is the same for Musian and non-Musian for fiscal 2025-26. For comparison, the current cost as provided by Ahmadiyya Muslim Funeral Services is currently at $13,900 at the Brampton Memorial Garden. This price includes the cost of the lot, headstone, and all government charges for the cemetery.

How long will this price remain in effect?

At present, the price is applicable until June 30, 2026. The National Funeral Board will be responsible for reviewing and recommending the price each year to the Finance Committee of the Jamaat for the next fiscal year.

When will the cemetery be ready for burial?

Based on the site planning process, building permits, and land development work, the cemetery is expected to be ready in 2027, Insha’Allah.

Why is Jamaat charging a fee, particularly to Musian?

The land was bought to establish a cemetery. The purchase did not include the zoning costs, site planning costs, land development costs, and building costs required for establishing a functioning Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat cemetery. In addition, there are costs associated with the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and contributions to the fund for the perpetual upkeep of the cemetery. The payment for the government fund is 40 percent of the lot price. There are also ongoing land monitoring and management costs associated with the cemetery. Overall, these costs are in millions of dollars. Therefore, the Jamaat is recovering some of the costs that will be incurred in establishing and managing this cemetery. Despite these charges, families will save thousands of dollars during a difficult time.

Are only Musian allowed to purchase lots in the Ahmadiyya Cemetery?

Around 80 percent of graves at the cemetery are allocated for the Maqbara Musian. Therefore, there is a very limited number of lots allocated for non-Musian.

Can payment be made in installments?

Yes. Installments are permitted. Members may pay in full or in four installments of $2,000 each by December 31, 2027. However, a reservation must be made by making the first installment of $2,000 before June 30, 2026. Cost may change after June 30, 2026.

When can members make payments?

Payments can be made now at www.AMJInc.ca under the heading “Cemetery – Hadiqa Ahmad.” No additional forms are required. The reservation will be tracked based on the membership code and payment at AMJInc.

What will happen if the member dies prior to the opening of the cemetery?

In case of the death of a member before the opening of the cemetery, all funds will be returned to the estate or the family of the deceased.

Can a member transfer a lot from another cemetery to the Ahmadiyya Cemetery?

Contracts with private or city cemeteries, for example, Brampton Memorial Garden, are not transferable to Ahmadiyya Cemetery at Hadiqa Ahmad. However, a person may sell or transfer these rights to another person.
