Ansar Ride for Peace – Ottawa to Baitul Islam, Day 1

As a prologue to the National Ijtima of Majlis Ansarullah Canada, a group of cyclists started their momentous journey travelling from Ottawa to Peace Village on bikes on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Three cyclists led by Ansar Cycling Chairman, Yahya Khan Sahib, began the journey after Zuhr prayers at the Ottawa West namaz centre, and traveled an enduring 160 km (100 miles) through the beautiful Ottawa Valley.

By the Grace of Allah, the group reached Kingston, ON at 9 PM at their accommodations, greeted by 4 additional cyclists who will continue the rest of the journey. At an astonishing fast 27.5 km/h average speed, the group enjoyed gorgeous and scenic views, crossing the world-famous Rideau Canal and Rideau lakes, lush forests, and the historic town of Perth, ON.

Awais Mehmood (Ottawa West), shared, “I traveled by bike from Ottawa to Baitul Islam for the first time in 2008, at the arrival of our beloved Imam, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V(aba). At that time, I had a very rudimentary bike, and it took us four days. Throughout today’s ride, I was reliving that moment when I had the opportunity to shake the blessed hands of Huzur-e-Anwar (aba) delight after that journey. I’m taking part in this ride in 2026 with my Ansar brothers to attend National Majlis Ansarullah Ijtima to remember those precious days.”

The full group of 7 cyclists will be riding an astonishing 260 km on Friday to Baitul Mahdi, Durham, alongside the shore of Lake Ontario, before making the final convergence ride into Peace Village on Saturday morning. Inshallah.
