Alhamdulillah, Humanity First Canada’s Windsor Chapter held the Humanity First Unity Summit 2026 on Sunday, 28 June 2026, at the Giovanni Caboto Club in Windsor, Ontario.
Around 500 people attended, along with more than 50 charities, community organisations, public agencies, healthcare professionals, emergency responders, educational institutions, and community leaders.
More than 300 guests came from outside the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, making the day a significant outreach opportunity.
The theme was “Many Voices, One Mission.” Its guiding principle came from the Holy Qur’an:
“and whoso gave life to one, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind.”
[Al-Ma’idah, ch.5:v.33]
The Summit set out to put that principle into practice.
Rather than a conference or an exhibition, it was a place where organizations could meet one another, introduce their services to the public and look for ways to work together.
Health, poverty, homelessness, mental health, emergency preparedness and social isolation are problems no single organization can solve alone. They need cooperation and a shared commitment to serving humanity.
Learning, Awareness and Practical Skills
Six public-awareness presentations ran through the day. They covered Stop the Bleed, which teaches people how to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding, along with household and community preparedness, children’s oral health, colon cancer awareness and screening, resilience, and the value of a growth mindset. Prevention, preparedness, education and personal responsibility ran through all of them.
The Summit also featured an interactive Basic Life Support (BLS) awareness program led by paramedic Dave Thibodeau of Essex-Windsor EMS. Participants practiced CPR, chest compressions and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at six training stations under the supervision of experienced instructors. More than 200 people received instruction in basic life-saving skills. A stage demonstration allowed the wider audience to watch the techniques and understand why immediate intervention matters during a cardiac emergency.
Experiencing Disaster Relief
Another major attraction was the Humanity First USA Disaster Relief Experience, led by Dr Naeem Lughmani, Medical Director of Disaster Relief and Global Health and Director of Doctors for Humanity.
The team traveled from the United States with an immersive display of emergency shelters, field equipment and practical demonstrations. Visitors learned about disaster assessment, shelter operations, medical response, volunteer deployment, logistics, humanitarian coordination and community preparedness. Families, children, healthcare professionals and community leaders were able to see how Humanity First works during disasters around the world.
Health Awareness and Community Service
A complimentary basic medical assessment clinic was led by Dr Noman Hassan, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Medical Association of Canada. Participants were offered blood-pressure measurement, body-mass-index assessment, blood-glucose screening and general health education, with follow-up care recommended where it was needed. The clinic encouraged people to pay closer attention to indicators they might otherwise ignore.
Visitors could also meet representatives from dozens of charities and community organizations. More than 50 took part, among them the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County, Canadian Blood Services, the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Downtown Mission of Windsor, New Canadians’ Center of Excellence, the Salvation Army, Street Help Homeless Center, Windsor Fire and Rescue Services, and the Windsor Regional Hospital Emergency and Trauma Program.
The exhibition area became a hub of community interaction. Organizations shared information about their services, volunteer openings and humanitarian work, and built relationships with one another at the same time. Families, youth, seniors, students, healthcare professionals and community members all found something that fit their interests.
Building Bridges Through Service
Elected representatives and community leaders attended, including the Mayor of Windsor, members of Parliament and of the Provincial Parliament, municipal representatives, the President and CEO of Windsor Regional Hospital, and the Fire Chief of Windsor Fire and Rescue Services. Certificates of appreciation were presented to participating charities, organizations, sponsors and community partners in recognition of their service to Windsor-Essex.
An event of this size depended on its volunteers. They served in registration, hospitality, logistics, exhibitions, audio-visual services, medical assessments, disaster relief, the BLS stations, parking and guest services. Their work reflected the spirit of selfless service that lies at the heart of Humanity First.
The Summit was covered by CTV News Windsor, AM800 CKLW, MTA Canada and Humanity First Canada’s own media platforms, carrying its message well beyond those who were in the room.
Around 500 participants, more than 50 organizations, public officials, healthcare professionals, first responders, businesses and volunteers gathered under one roof, not to discuss service but to practice it. Each organization brought its own expertise and its own perspective, and all of them worked towards the same end.
For Humanity First Canada’s Windsor Chapter, the day was a practical expression of the Islamic values of compassion, cooperation, service and respect for all people. When many voices unite around the service of humanity, what they achieve together is far greater than anything one organization could manage alone. The Chapter hopes to build on this beginning, Insha’Allah.
